
Founded as an extra activity for the 75 year jubilee of Musicschool Heerlen, in the past decades the Charles Hennen Concours(CHC) has grown into one of the most important musical events in Heerlen, and more recently also in Parkstad.
In 2010 the competition will be split up in 2 categories for the first time: For stringensembles (violin-viola-cello) and stringensembles with piano of 3-4 musicians separate. 1st and 2nd prizes will be awarded!
Besides the absolute top of the young professionals CHC also pays attention to the younger agecategories, right up to the more recent students of a musicschool. Quality and level will be preserved by a competent and international jury. Musicians and specialist teachers from all over Europe who will also give a workshop for the participating musicians.
The competiton can be entered by ensembles of 3 or 4 musicians in the following complements:
• Stringensemble: violin (1 or 2) - viola - cello
• Stringensemble with piano: violin - viola - cello - piano
The total age for a trio may not exceed 81 years (individually maximum 29 years) and for a quartet it may not exceed 108 years (individually 29 years)
Both categories will complete a fist round, after which 4 ensembles of each category will qualify for the semi finals. At the end 2 ensembles of each category will qualify for the finals. The entrance fee will be ? 80,- per ensemble. The sleep-over will be ? 25 per person per night (including breakfast and diner).
