We really regret to announce the postponement of Viii-th International Competition for Young Pianists in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz. Due to the impossibility to hold the Viii-th International Competition for Young Pianists in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz in April 2009, Administration of the Competition postpones the Horowitz competition in intermediate and senior groups to April 2010.
We feel sorry for many young artists who have prepared themselves for this year's Competition!
However, all applications received in 2008 are valid. The deadline for applications is prolonged to the 10-th of December 2009. The changes to the already sent application packages are acceptable.
Qualification Round - selection by video records (DVD) will take place in Kyiv in January 2010. Program of the participant's choice with obligatory performance of a virtuoso etude. Performance duration - from 10 to 15 minutes. Having examined results of Qualification Round the Administration determines participants of the First Round of the Competition and sends them invitations by March 1, 2010. List of competitors will be placed on the web site of the Competition: www.horowitzv.org
The Administration of the Competition provides free of charge with:
- accommodation to competitors accepted for the 1st Round while he/she is taking part at the Competition;
- acoustic rehearsals (10min.) before the 1st Round and one rehearsal with the orchestra for participants of the 3rd Round in the Competition Concert Halls.
Junior Group - pianists 9-15 years old (competition fee US $70)
Intermediate Group - pianists 14-19 years old (competition fee US $100)
Senior Group - pianists 16-33 years old (competition fee US $100)

1st Round
1. Bach. One Prelude and Fugue from Well-tempered Clavier.
2. Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven (of the participant's choice). One Sonata in complete volume.
3. Clementi, Czerny (op.740), Moszkowski, Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninoff (of the participant's choice). One virtuoso etude.
4. A piece by Ukrainian composer.
Performance duration is up to 25 minutes.
2nd Round
1. Obligatory work (look at Attachment № 2 "List of obligatory works for the Second Round")
2. One or more pieces by composers from Romantic period to today time.
Performance duration is from 25 to 30 minutes.
3rd Round
1. A concerto in complete volume (look at Attachment № 3 "List of works for the Third Round").

4. A piece by Ukrainian composer.
Performance duration - up to 30 minutes.
Second Round

2. One or more pieces by composers from Romantic period to present time.
Performance duration - from 30 to 35 minutes.
Third Round
1. A concerto in complete volume (see Attachment № 3 "List of Works for the Third Round").

3. Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, Debussy, Stravinsky, Ligeti (of the participant's choice). One virtuoso etude.
4. A piece by Ukrainian composer.
Performance duration - up to 35 minutes.
Second Round
1. Obligatory work (see Attachment № 2 "List of Obligatory Works for the Second Round")
2. One or more pieces by composers from Romantic period to present time.
Performance duration - from 40 to 45 minutes.
Third Round
1. Two concertos in complete volume (see Attachment № 3 "List of Works for the Third Round"):
1.1 One concerto of "Viennese classics" in complete volume.
1.2 One concerto from Romantic period to present time in complete volume.
